A mother in Big Lake, Minnesota, was saved from septic shock by her 4-year-old son, Asher, who cared for her and his younger siblings when she fell ill. The registered nurse was on her way out of the house to head to the ER, but had a coughing attack and collapsed on the kitchen floor while attempting to grab her nebulizer. Asher instinctively brought the nebulizer to her, plugged it in, and put all the medicine in it. He then held it to her face, telling her to breathe, before grabbing her phone and using Siri to call his father.
Asher also kept an eye on his siblings, providing them with snacks and toys to keep them occupied while he cared for his mother. Sheriff Chief Deputy Steve Doran said that he was impressed that a child so young could take such actions and called Asher a "guardian angel" and "incredible." The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office presented Asher with the Life Saving Award, making him the youngest winner to receive the honor in the office's history.
