Hey there, HapiFriends! šŸ‘‹

Today, we celebrate the 120th birthday of Atletico Club Madrid, one of the oldest and most successful soccer clubs in Spain. Formed by Basque students living in Madrid in 1903, the club was originally an extension of the students' hometown team of Atletico Bilbao.

Now it’s a powerhouse, with fans like this guy…

Atletico Madrid has had several "Golden" periods of success in the 20th century, winning La Liga 11 times, Copa del Rey 11 times, and the Europa League three times. Their passion, resilience, and fighting spirit have earned them the loyal fan base that they have.

Alright, let’s put soccer aside to talk about some good things happening around the world! šŸ‘‡

6 Lessons From 109 Years of Wisdom šŸ‘“

Vincent Dransfield, a 109-year-old man, is still cruising around town in his Hyundai, running errands, grocery shopping, and buying lunch. He lives independently in his own home in Little Falls, New Jersey, where he has resided for the past 78 years. Vincent is a living testament that age is just a number, as he requires no help navigating between the home's main floor, his upstairs bedroom, and the basement, where he does his laundry.

When asked how he feels at 109, Vincent quips, "How do I feel? Let's go out to a dance somewhere. How about that? That's how I feel. I've been very, very, very lucky in my lifetime. I feel perfect." According to Vincent’s granddaughter, Erica Lista, he has never had major diseases, such as cancer or heart disease. Vincent’s longevity is attributed to his healthy lifestyle choices and his positive outlook on life.

Vincent has one child, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Many of his family members recently gathered at his home to celebrate his 109th birthday with his favorite food, pizza, and carrot cake. Here are some of the lessons we can learn from Vincent’s remarkable life:

  • Spend time doing what you love

  • Milk does a body good

  • Stay active

  • Enjoy what you eat

  • It’s never too late to fix bad habits

  • Stay positive

Father and 13-Year-Old Daughter Rescued By Good Samaritans šŸ›Ÿ

via HCSO

Samantha Conover and her friends, who were out for a dinner pontoon cruise, heard a worrying conversation at a public boat ramp. A deputy needed help finding two jet skiers, a father and his 13-year-old daughter, who had not returned to shore as day turned to night. Samantha and her friends quickly offered the deputy a ride on their boat to search the lake. After searching the lake's perimeter, they heard the daughter's frantic cries for help. The jet ski had sunk in the middle of the lake, and the father and daughter were tired after treading water for almost an hour. With the help of the deputy, they were safely pulled aboard the pontoon boat.

Samantha, her friends, and her fiancƩ were modest about their heroic actions, saying they were in the right place at the right time and would have done it for anyone with no hesitation. Nevertheless, their actions were nothing short of heroic, as they likely saved two lives. Watching the replay of that moment still makes Samantha teary-eyed, and she's glad they were able to help. In the end, the dad and daughter were safe and sound.
