Hello Friends! 👋
Today, we're headed down memory lane, celebrating the 193rd anniversary of the beloved nursery rhyme "Mary Had a Little Lamb." This childhood favorite was first published in 1830 by Sarah Josepha Hale, an influential figure in 19th-century American literature.

This simple yet endearing tale of a girl and her devoted lamb has been a staple in children's literature, introducing generations of kids to the joy of rhyme and rhythm. The gentle, repetitive melody and quaint narrative of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" have enchanted kids for almost two centuries now, fostering early language skills and nurturing a love for poetry and song.
Alright, let's take a step back from nursery rhymes and dive into the top positive news stories from around the world! 👇

He Built a Theme Park so His Daughter Wouldn’t Feel Left Out 🎢

Gordon Hartman was inspired to create an inclusive space where no one would feel left out after witnessing his daughter, Morgan, who was born with physical and cognitive disabilities, unable to participate in a pool activity during a family vacation in 2006. Drawing from his experience as a builder, Hartman enlisted the help of other experts to transform his idea into what is now known as Morgan's Wonderland, a fully accessible theme park in San Antonio, which he opened in 2010. "That's the beauty of this place is that it's an opportunity for everyone to truly enjoy playing together. But also, no matter what their condition may be, that's not a question anymore," Hartman stated.
Morgan's Wonderland, believed to be the only theme park of its kind in the world, is not only for people with disabilities but for everyone. It offers a variety of recreational areas including a Ferris wheel, zip-lining, and a fully accessible water park. "We have a wheelchair valet," explained Hartman, where patrons can transfer from their wheelchair to one specially built to their size that can work underwater. This theme park has brought joy to many, changing lives and even making dreams come true for a couple from Mexico City who had never had a chance to play in the water together due to their special needs. Hartman said, "Here at Morgan's Wonderland and all the different Morgan's venues, you don't watch. You participate." Morgan, who received a diagnosis of Tatton-Brown-Rahman syndrome, a rare genetic disease, in 2022, continues to inspire and share her spirit of joy with millions of visitors who frequent the theme park she inspired.

An 8th-Grader’s Unlikely Friendship 😄

via Bullitt County Public Schools
Brennan Gould, an embodiment of kindness and joy, formed a heartwarming friendship with Ms. Ann, an 84-year-old, thanks to a "Kindness Week Challenge" set by his 8th-grade teacher. The challenge spurred a bond that transcended the week, turning into a five-year-long relationship. Brennan's devotion extended past the initial gesture, evolving into monthly visits filled with flowers, smoothies, and gifts. They share a mutual love for chocolate and conversations that stretch from his high school experiences to college aspirations. As Brennan's mom, Traci, proudly puts it, "The best thing a teenager can do is befriend someone elderly...I hope he always remembers the joy he's brought her."
Brennan's unwavering kindness brought sunshine into Ms. Ann's life, a gesture deeply appreciated by her family who cannot always be present. Brennan's compassion not only filled her days with warmth, but her words of encouragement reciprocally sparked inspiration in him. Their dialogue turned into a knowledge fountain for Brennan, making him eagerly anticipate each encounter. Brennan's story is a testament to the immense difference a small act of kindness can make. His embodiment of the "Community Contributor" characteristic is an encouragement to everyone to follow his lead and make a difference in someone's life.
