Loyal Dog Leads Rescue of Lost 4-Year-Old 🐾

In a heartwarming rescue, state troopers in New Jersey found a 4-year-old boy who had gone missing in the woods. Captured on police body-camera footage, the emotional moment shows troopers running towards the sobbing child, who had lost his shoes. The boy's loyal dog, who had been barking nearby, led the troopers to the lost child and excitedly accompanied them back home.
New Jersey State Police shared the dramatic footage on Twitter, revealing that the boy and his dog had wandered away from their home in Buena Vista Township. Social media users praised the rescue and the devoted dog, with one commenter suggesting that the dog deserved a big treat for its life-saving actions.

Are 5th Graders Smarter Than Us? 🤔

via Matt Slocum / AP
A fifth-grader from Virginia identified a mistake in his science textbook, leading the publisher to acknowledge the error. The attentive student, Liam Squires, discovered that the labels for igneous and sedimentary rocks were switched in the textbook, "Exploring Science All Around Us." After reporting the error to his teacher and the school's instructional supervisor for science, the publisher, Five Ponds Press, sent Liam a letter of gratitude.
Liam's keen observation not only highlights the importance of accuracy in educational materials but also showcases the potential of young learners to contribute to the improvement of such resources. Commended by both his teacher and the school district's superintendent, Liam's diligence serves as an inspiration to students and educators alike.

The plastic catching system, designed by Dutch inventor Boyan Slat, employs sweeping booms spanning hundreds of meters, positioned between California and Hawaii, to collect waste. With approximately 1,800 billion pieces of garbage, weighing an estimated 80 million kilograms, floating in the Pacific Ocean, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a massive area of plastic debris roughly three times the size of France.
