You Might Need A Nature Prescription

Good morning, friends! 👋

Today, we're taking a trip down memory lane to April 13, 1978, when the New York Yankees sweetened the day for their fans by giving away thousands of Reggie! bars at Yankee Stadium.

When star outfielder Reggie Jackson hit a home run in his first at-bat, fans went a little overboard by showering the field with the Reggie! bars.

The game had to be delayed while the grounds crew cleaned up the mess. But hey, if candy bars raining from the sky isn't a sign of a great day, we don't know what is!

While we don’t have thousands of candy bars for you all, we certainly have more good news and uplifting stories for today! 👇

We’re on a Journey to Jupiter 🛰

via European Space Agency

The European Space Agency's Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer mission (Juice) is set to explore Jupiter and three of its largest moons, Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa. The spacecraft will take eight years to reach its destination, utilizing gravitational slingshots as it passes Earth, the Moon, and Venus.

These ice-covered moons may have subsurface oceans, making them potentially habitable for life. Juice's objectives include characterizing the moons, determining if they harbor oceans, and exploring their habitability. The spacecraft will also analyze Jupiter's magnetic field, radiation environment, and interactions with its moons.

Juice will work alongside NASA’s Europa Clipper mission, launching in 2024, to uncover the mysteries of the gas giant and its satellites. Both missions aim to provide insights into the potential for life beyond Earth and improve our understanding of the outer solar system.

Introducing a wonder "treatment" prescribed by doctors: nature! Researchers at UNSW Sydney analyzed 28 studies and discovered that spending time outdoors can significantly boost both physical and mental health. Benefits include reduced blood pressure, lower depression and anxiety scores, and a higher daily step count. Nature prescriptions seem like a dream come true.

While the UK and Canada are embracing nature prescriptions, Australia is still exploring how to implement them on a large scale. Professor Xiaoqi Feng emphasizes the importance of making these prescriptions accessible to everyone, regardless of income, to ensure that the benefits reach all who need them.
