Happy Monday, friends!

Today, we celebrate the 55th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I've Been to the Mountaintop" speech. Delivered on this very day in 1968, this inspiring speech marked the last address by the great civil rights leader.

As we remember the powerful words spoken by MLK, let us also honor his legacy by embracing his vision of unity, love, and justice. Today, take a moment to reflect on the impact of his message and how we can all contribute to making the world a better place.

Feel free to listen to the full speech or read the text to truly appreciate the depth of his words.

And now, let's dive into some uplifting news stories from around the globe! 👇

Overcoming Loneliness Together: The London Lonely Girls Club 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

via Holly Cooke

Since pandemic restrictions were lifted in London, nearly 20,000 women have joined The London Lonely Girls Club, a group aimed at combating loneliness. Founded in 2018 by Holly Cooke, the club experienced significant growth in the past year, with its membership soaring from 10,000 to almost 31,000. The club offers a platform for people seeking connection, as London's size can exacerbate feelings of isolation. The group enjoys monthly events, such as picnics, brunches, and game nights.

A December report found that 1 in 12 Londoners is severely affected by loneliness, a situation likely worsened by the pandemic. The study revealed that 12% of young people surveyed experienced severe loneliness. The London Lonely Girls Club aims to provide a safe environment for people to connect face-to-face, with events booking up rapidly as demand remains high.

Ruby, The Life-Saving Dog 🐶

via Dogs Trust Salisbury

Ruby, a 5-year-old German shepherd/Labrador retriever mix, saved her new owner Peter Bradley after he fainted due to low blood sugar and fell into an 8-foot-deep watery ditch. Bradley and his partner Debbie Ackers had recently adopted Ruby from Dogs Trust Salisbury in the U.K. Ruby stayed beside Bradley and barked for attention, ultimately leading to his rescue. Bradley expressed his gratitude for Ruby's loyalty and quick thinking, stating that if she hadn't barked, he could have been in the ditch for a long time without anyone knowing.

After the initial incident, Bradley fainted again at home, and Ruby continued to stay by his side. Ruby’s presence alerted a friend to call paramedics. Bradley praised Ruby for protecting him and letting the paramedics help once they arrived. He and his partner Debbie said, "She really is our hero."
