Texas Research Found New Way to Remove Microplastics from Water 💧

Okra, a vegetable often used in Southern cuisine, has been found to have the ability to remove microplastics from wastewater. Microplastics are tiny pieces of plastic that can be harmful to the environment and human health. Currently, the most common way to remove microplastics from water is by adding chemicals that can be toxic and harmful.

Scientists at Tarleton State University in Texas have discovered that extracts from okra, along with other plants like fenugreek and cactus, can be used as a non-toxic alternative to remove microplastics from water. The same sticky substance that makes okra slimy when cooked also allows it to act as a "flocculant," attracting and removing microplastics from water.
