Students Raise $200K for Their Janitor to Retire
Students raise $200K for janitor, dog and owner reunited after 7 years, and more.
Hey Hapiday friends!
On this day in history, something pretty incredible happened. In 1987, a Pennsylvania woman named Jean Bishop won $3.5 million in the state lottery. However, instead of keeping the money for herself, she decided to use her newfound wealth to help others.
Bishop founded "The St. Francis Soup Kitchen" in her hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania. For over 30 years, the organization has served hot meals to the homeless and those in need!
Now, let's get into some good news happening today!

Quote of the Day 🗣
"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in."

Students Raise $200K for Their Janitor to Retire ❤️

via GoFundMe
Three high school seniors from Texas started a fundraiser to help a retired janitor in their school, Mr. James, who was forced to come out of retirement due to the rising cost of living. The seniors noticed that Mr. James, who is 80 years old, should not be doing custodial work, and decided to do create a GoFundMe page and posted a video on TikTok to raise awareness for their cause.
In just 12 hours, the page raised $10,000, and as of this morning, over 5,000 people have donated a total of $193,000. The students' act of kindness has inspired many others to donate, and it appears that they will be successful in helping Mr. James retire once again.
