Students Save Dog Who Fell in Canal
A dog being saved from a canal, a couple who fell in love through language, WWII letters found after 70 years, and more!
Good morning. Today is National Almond Day. For all our dairy-free friends out there, almonds might already be a normal part of your diet (almond milk). If almonds are in no way part of your diet, here are 3 reasons to start incorporating them:
They’re a good source of nutrients: Almonds are packed with important nutrients such as fiber, protein, healthy fats, and various vitamins and minerals.
They promote heart health: Almonds are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which can help lower bad cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.
They help with weight management: Almonds can help with weight management as they are filling and can suppress hunger, reducing the overall calorie intake throughout the day.
All nuts aside... let's talk about some good news!

Quote of the Day 🗣
"Happiness is a state of mind. It's just according to the way you look at things."

A heartwarming incident took place in Manchester, UK, when a group of students from Manchester Metropolitan University rescued a dog that had fallen into a canal.
Two of the students, Jack Spencer Furmston and Ben Camphor, along with some other passersby, worked together to save the dog.
"Everyone was panicking. I couldn't let that dog down and not help, so I put my jumper down and sprung into action, climbing down first," Ben said.
The rescue operation was captured on video by a bystander, Dabhidh MchicEamailinn, who shared it on Twitter.

Couple Used Language to Find Love ❤️

via Duolingo
Two strangers from different sides of the world, Amanda and Rob, found love on a language-learning app, Duolingo. Amanda from the Philippines, who had been using the app since 2013 to learn different languages, including Mandarin, started learning Mandarin to impress someone she was interested in. Rob, from the US, joined Duolingo in 2020 to continue learning Spanish.
They met on the app in 2021, and their love story began after Rob started congratulating Amanda on her daily streak. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the two had not met in person until Rob traveled to the Philippines in 2022, where they finally met and got married. Despite the distance, their love has continued to grow, and they're grateful to Duolingo for bringing them together.
