"Unicorn" Dog Finds A Loving Home

Also; 6 generations of a family in one photo, a stolen dog reunites with owner after 6 years, and more.

Good morning, everyone! 👋

Today, we're taking a step back in time to celebrate a significant moment in American media history. Without it, we wouldn’t be here! We, as in Hapiday (not us humans)…

On this day in 1704, the first newspaper in the United States, The Boston News-Letter, was published in Boston, Massachusetts.

Although the News-Letter was only a couple pages and published bi-weekly, it paved the way for modern journalism in America.

Now, let's dive into some positive news and inspiring stories for today! 👇

Quote of the Day 🗣

“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”

— Frederick Keonig

A 98-year-old Kentucky woman named Cordelia Mae Hawkins, also known as MaeDell, met her great-great-great-granddaughter, Zhavia Danielle, for the first time. Zhavia was seven weeks old at the time of the meeting and is the second great-great-great-grandchild of Cordelia but the first great-great-great-granddaughter. Cordelia's granddaughter, Gracie Howell, said the family matriarch was thrilled to see everyone together. Six generations of the same family posed together in one picture.

Cordelia has a large family that includes 13 children and 10 stepchildren, and according to a chart created by the family, the 98-year-old currently has 623 descendants. Gracie said that, as the family story goes, Cordelia always made sure her children had a hot meal in the mornings before school and in the evenings. Despite having a tough life, Gracie said that Cordelia has a good spirit.

The “Unicorn” Dog Finally Finds A Home 🦄

via Kristen Kuhlman

Strawberry, aka the "unicorn" dog, has found a forever home after the 2-year-old pit bull moved from shelter to shelter and was nearly euthanized due to a bump on her head. Kristen Kuhlman, the mother of twins, fell in love with Strawberry after seeing her online and felt that the dog would fit in well with their family. Although Strawberry had a difficult time adapting to her new surroundings at first, she eventually became an incredibly affectionate dog.

Strawberry enjoys playing fetch and snuggling with her new family, and Kristen said that she fits right into their family. The family decided to keep Strawberry's name because they thought it fit her personality as a really sweet girl.
